Our history is what has informed and shaped the Guiding Principles of our business.

Company values

People are the core of our business and we value their honesty, their loyalty, and the hard work they do. Our place in the community is of great importance to us and we aim to provide as much employment as possible to our local community. Together we all work towards our common goal of delivering the highest possible quality of product in as ethical a way as possible.

Our Directors are "hands on" in the business and we have an informal approach across the whole business, with everyone on first name terms and an open-door policy in place.

Despite being such a large company our traditional family values still hold true and many generations of local families have both started and finished their working career with us which helps us to keep these values alive. Here at Walkers, you are not just a number - we genuinely care about our people.

A fair, safe place to work

Our working practices meet the requirements of the Ethical Trade Initiative (ETI). We ensure that everyone is trained and that we operate in safe, hygienic working conditions. Health and Safety compliance and best practice training is carried out in all our factories and we monitor our Health and Safety performance at all levels.


We believe that if we want commitment from you, you need commitment from us and therefore we do not operate zero hour contracts. Our pay and benefits are one of the best in the area.

Many of our management and more specialised roles are filled by team members that started in the core of our business as seasonal employees packing shortbread. Throughout their career with the company they have gained promotion through many levels with support from both our in-house training programme and external courses.

We have a well-established factory training programme with pay increases upon completion of certain stages. That all begins on day one with your induction.


We handle a large volume of enquiries throughout the year, and when you apply for work with us you will receive an automated reply. Please be assured that we will review all applicants and endeavour to respond within a 4-week period. Most of our vacancies tend to be factory based however if you have an interest in other areas of our business we are always on the lookout for bright, motivated, professional and passionate people to join our team and are happy to discuss speculative applications.
