Our Sparrows And Starlings Are In Serious Decline But You Can Help!

Recently it was National Nest Box week and the RSPB at Loch Garten, Abernethy, hosted a nest box building event to encourage local families to build nest boxes for their gardens and entice in some nesting birds.

Bird BoxDo you have dead wood in your garden or in a nature reserve near you that you can use? Why don’t you get out and enjoy the fresh air after the winter months and do your part to help the environment at the same time. Using dead wood, which has natural holes in it, you can build great nest boxes with your family, just like those above have done with the RSPB and reconnect with nature in your garden. As spring arrives you never know what wildlife you may find!

Why not make this your family project during the Easter holidays. It’s simple, all you need to do is build a box following these clear instructions,

Then all that’s left to do is sit back with a cup of tea and your favourite Walkers biscuit and watch as nature makes a home in your garden!
