Recruitment FAQ

Recruitment

What are the facilities for rest breaks?

We have several canteens which operate both card and cash payments, which offer a variety of soup, sandwiches and snacks at a subsidised cost. There are facilities within the canteens to store your own food, although we do not allow peanuts, sesame, lupin or molluscs to be brought on site, and would discourage bringing any nut products onto site.

What skills do you need to work in the factory?

Good hand-eye coordination, flexible and manual dexterity is essential. Rotational duties mean that during your shift there will be different tasks to complete and require a reasonable level of good health and well-being.

What do I wear to work in the factory?

We will provide you with personal protective clothing (PPC), which includes Hair coverings, overalls and steel-toe capped shoes. We recommend wearing light, comfortable clothing which is in good condition. To prevent contamination, all clothing must be free from fur, faux fur, decorative belts, sequins, beading, fringes, rips, tears and fraying. Therefore, your own clothes must not protrude out-with the overalls at collars or cuffs and would need to be removed before going into production/packing or storage areas.

What is an induction?

Prior to starting work with us you will be invited to attend a training session that we call an induction. This is usually carried out the week before you are due to start work and includes meeting with our recruitment, health & safety and occupational health teams as part of our on-boarding process. It also includes your picture being taken for your clock card and completing all paperwork associated with starting a new job.

Can I wear jewellery in the factory?

No jewellery is permitted however we will allow a single metal band ring but all other jewellery, watches and fashion accessories must be removed. No piercings allowed i.e. nose, ear, brow, lip and tongue studs, microdermals etc. must be removed.

Can I wear nail varnish in the factory?

No you will be required to remove nail varnish, nail art, nail extensions, gel nails or any adornments etc.

Can I smoke on site?

We operate a No Smoking policy on all our sites which is a standard practice for Food Manufacturers. This means those that smoke or use e-cigarettes can only do so within the facilities provided at each location during the permitted break times. You should note that smokers will be required to change out of all protective clothing/shoes as part of the hygiene procedures.
